If you’re willing to live where Slumdog Millionaire was filmed, you can make a lot of money.
ReachLocal has 25-30 folks in Mumbai, India making PPC campaigns for their US-based customers. They need someone to manage that team. Read the job posting here.
This also includes setting up landing pages, which are just a reverse proxy of the customer’s website. This allows ReachLocal to avoid the hassle of trying to get access to the client’s site, dealing with an incumbent webmaster, or messing with non-scalable SEO.
12 million rupees, by the way, is $250,000 a year. And in Mumbai, that’s a lot of money– as most people who do PPC professionally make $1-$2k a month– we know, as we’ve hired a few folks from the biggest firms with only limited success.
Interesting what you can learn about competitors by reading their job postings. When we bid against the mega agencies such as iProspect and iCrossing, we’ll take a look at their job postings to determine how they structure their teams, what they pay people, and how their processes work. Read carefully and you’ll be surprised what you can learn!
Alternately, if you want to remain in the US and work for a killer company doing PPC in the local space, contact me– dennis@blitzlocal.com. We don’t offshore any of our PPC, as quality control is so important.
Wake up! Read the job description which says:
Compensation:
Rupees 9,00,000 – 12,00,000
Negotiable for a deserving candidate
Hello! Thats not Rs. 12 Million , it is 1.2 million aka 12 Lakh. Somehow you decided that an extra zero is in there, which it is not. In India, commas are inserted at the 100K point because 1 Lakh is 100K.
So your entire post proves that… its quite affordable to do the ppc campaigns there.
BTW 9 to 12 lakh is a great salary there regardless. But sho aint $250K….
Hey Dennis,
You got it COMPLETELY wrong.. The posting says 1.2 million rupees. not 12 million rupees. So that would be $25,000 / year.
Dennis,
Well you have may have made a small miscalculation, but I liked the headline! It made me read it, even if your math was wrong… 🙂 Long live the headline…
Peter
Peter– you’re right!
I notice that both our companies are PR5 and Alexa 150k– cool!
Peter, you are RIGHT! But it’s funny nonetheless. I realized I was off by a digit later, but kept it anyway.
Hi…….. I have good experience of Proxy campaigns of reachlocal. so if there are any requirement for PPC of any Post in reachlocal Mumbai then please contact me – 9320484558.
$250k is a lot of money in India.
On the other hand, $25k/year to baby-sit a bunch of folks doing PPC in Mumbai is peanuts.
It’s a bad bad idea to hire people to do your PPC, Reach should just build technology and outsource the mechanical stuff to some consulting company – but, then again, they’re not a very smart company, so they can continue to do the nonsense they’re doing.
